Yolande Brown, BTech Biomedical Technology (Clinical Pathology)
Research Technologist II
Yolande joined CHIL in February 2014. She completed her BTech degree in Biomedical Technology (Clinical Pathology) at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in 2009. From Feb 2010 to Feb 2014 she worked at SATVI as a Medical Technologist where she performed flow cytometry, ELISA-Quantiferon and ELISpot assays, and isolated PBMC for clinical TB vaccine trials and was responsible for document control and training. She completed the SANAS Laboratory Systems Course for ISO17025 in 2012.
From Jan 2005 to Jan 2010 she worked for NHLS as a Medical Technologist. At CHIL, Yolande is the designated Safety and First Aid Officer. Yolande splits her time between CHIL’s endpoints group and the laboratory operations group that oversees the HVTN African site laboratories. She provides quality assurance monitoring for site laboratory performance and trains staff in HVTN specimen processing.
