Yolande joined CHIL in February 2014. She completed her B-Tech degree in Biomedical Technology (Clinical Pathology) at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in 2009. From Feb 2010 to Feb 2014 she worked at SATVI where she performed flow cytometry, ELISA-Quantiferon, ELISpot assays, isolated PBMC for clinical TB vaccine trials and was responsible for document control and training. She completed the SANAS Laboratory Systems Course for ISO17025 in 2012. In 2015 she completed a certificate in Project Management from Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
In her current position at CHIL, she provides Quality Assurance Monitoring and provides support to the laboratories used by the Southern African HVTN and CoVPN Clinical sites to test novel HIV and COVID Vaccines. Yolande also conducts trainings for site laboratory staff on specimen processing for HVTN clinical trials and laboratory training for new HVTN and CoVPN protocols.
